Purpose and Determination

A couple of days ago, I got on the treadmill to run for 30 minutes. It was supposed to be an easy little run. It wasn’t. It was almost depressing to be as uncomfortable as I was. I mean, I ran one marathon and one half marathon last year and now I feel completely…yuck. I’d like to blame it on the fact that the 2 bras I had on were constricting my rib cage making breathing more difficult. Maybe that had something to do with it. However, the overwhelming reason I felt so bad is simple. I haven’t been running consistently and I’ve been eating like a bird. The truth is that birds eat up to 3 times their weight. With all of that flying, they burn it all off. Not me. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I’ve been eating more and exercising less. I had it completely backwards. I never stopped exercising. I just became the person in the gym who is getting bigger instead of smaller.

My run this morning was a little better and I do mean very little better. It is definitely going to be a commitment to keep me running and eating moderately in the early stages. I’ve been reminding myself that I’m blessed to be able to run. I congratulate myself and Praise the Lord at every little intermediate marker that I set. If I have no purpose and no determination, I will never reach my goal. Yes, I want to be totally in shape and look great in everything I put on and I want to prove to myself that I can reach my goal and stay there. In the moments I’m feeling like I just want to lounge and eat ice cream, I need to remind myself that I do have the faith of a mustard seed. (Luke 17:6 He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you. NIV) I can move my mulberry tree. The Word doesn’t say it going to be easy. It’s going to take some work from me and I know it can be done.

The blog theme is from Godaddy.  I just changed the picture.  It may be an outdated theme.  I updated it some time ago.  I need to do it again soon.
