Playing My Way Into Championship Form

Today was a little hectic. I had a dermatologist appointment in the morning and an appointment for a mammo and bilateral sonogram in the afternoon. The dermatologist appointment was a simple routine. The trip to the radiologist’s office was a test of faith. Last year this time, a lump was detected which was followed by a biopsy. The results were negative last year and this year. Praise the Lord! It does remind me that I need to continue to take great care of myself. Since I know that one way to reduce breast cancer risk is to exercise and maintain an appropriate weight, I should really make sure that I living the plan. Today, my plan went well. I had a good run this morning and my food was good and within normal limits. I need to celebrate my good health with more activities that will bring more excellent health.

While I wasn’t excited about my medical appointments today, I was looking forward to watching Serena Williams play Maria Sharapova in the Australian Open tonight. Serena didn’t disappoint. In fact, her play exceeded all expectations. There was never a moment when Serena was not in control. She completed dominated the number one player in the world. In three minutes more than an hour, Serena trounced Maria 6-1, 6-2. At the start of this tournament, Serena’s mother said “she still looks a little rusty.” By the final bounce of the ball, the Serena rust removal was completed as she raised the level of her play with each match. ESPN announcer Mary Carillo commented that both Serena and Venus have the ability to “play their way into championship form.”

I’m going to play my way into my personal championship form. It will be hard work and I’ll have fun doing it.
