Getting the Goals

Wednesday - Lent Day 7 - Ephesians 5:1-2 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

One of the problems of reaching fitness goals is that everywhere immediately results are promoted with the fine print that reads something like "results not typical.  Individual results vary."  If we're looking for change right now and actually have to work, work, work and wait for the results, we may become frustrated and give up on the whole plan altogether.

To counter my need for instant gratification, I am focused on the long-term results.  What will I do the day after I reach my weight and fitness goals?  How is my daily life different?  Can I simply start living that way right now?  Yes.  I can do exactly that at this moment.  It is not easy, but visualize what I want and how it feels to have it...now.

What do I have to do to make my vision come true?  Sacrifice my self-indulgent eating habits and make sure I keep working on my exercise plan and workout effectively.  So far, I like the food adjustments I've made to my diet.  By that I mean the food is good.  Of course, if I could eat ice cream every day at every meal, I would.  Working out is fun.  Sometimes finishing is more fun than the actual workout.  I’m pressing on developing a love for my new life and appreciating the minor sacrifice I need to make to get my results.
