I'm A Believer

The message at church this week was "I'm A Believer."  Basically, the discussion was how God is faithful and how we sometimes don't believe and therefore act as we don't believe and we settle for less than God has in store for us.  I thought of it today after stepping on the scale and not seeing the results I want.  I need to continue of this path to reach my goal and not head in the opposite direction.  Achieving optimal health has to be connected with believing.  If you're changing the way you take care of yourself and don't see immediate results, believing that you're on the right path is crucial to sticking to the plan and making refinements to achieve your goal.  It is a faith journey.

Do I believe that I will lose weight and increase strength despite my current situation?  Can I stop looking at where I am currently and see the goal?  Can I call things that are not as though they are? (Romans 4:17As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations."[a] He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed--the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.)

It seems clear that when the results don't show up, as I want them that discouragement can cause me to get off track.  It is interesting that I want to eat more ice cream when I stand on the scale and have gained weight.  My gaining weight causes me to desire to do something that would cause me to gain even more weight.  How backwards.  What I have to do in those instances is remember to focus on the goal and to focus on Jesus.  On my own, reaching the goal is difficult.  With the focus on Jesus or faith is strengthened and our journey made easier.  (Hebrews 12:2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.)
