God Is My Help

Psalm 54:4 Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.

Yesterday, I had several conversations and e-mails with another work department that began at the start of the day. I felt as if my issue should have been resolved much earlier than it actually was. My issue could not have been unique. Someone should know how to get this done and be able to do it quickly. It seemed as if I was being passed around each person directing me to someone else which had me back where I started. At the days end, I had a resolution. I am thankful for the person who tried to solve it early on and eventually walked the documents through the system.

My frustration grew throughout the day. I had to remind myself that this little issue was only a small step in the process and my ultimate goal would be realized. While I felt as if I was wasting time to get a simple piece of paper produced, I tried to see this from the perspective of others. Honestly, my first thought was that some were simply not being helpful. However, I did realize that they had other work to do and resist the temptation to write a little snippy note or leave a less than pleasant voice mail.

Telling myself that God is my help in the small things and the huge issues is tremendously helpful. Focusing on God helps me to gain proper perspective and to remember to address things with the attitude of love. Other attitudes raise my blood pressure, increase my stress and general magnify the negative in the situation. It is the small moments that prepare us for the big ones. Knowing Philippians 4:6-7 will bring peace on our quest for Divine Health. (Philippians 4:6-7;  6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.)
