Wait, just a minute

Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Wait, just a minute.  There are those moments that stop you in your tracks and remind you that you have to remain committed to your plan.  I had one of those moments today.  I pulled out a few of my belts.  One of them was looking very worn and the cracked around the holes.  Since I'm working on purging my house of junk, my first thought was this should go in the trash pile.

Before I tossed it, I decide to see if it would work with this outfit.  As I pulled the belt around my waist, it was clear that it did not fit.  The belt didn't reach.  This is no random belt, this is my belt.  I pulled the belt around me just as I would tie a string around a paper bag.  I pulled and pulled again and fastened the belt.  I was really uncomfortable and could barely breathe.  I walked into the bathroom to see what I looked like.  I was a paper bag with a string tied around the top.  The truth was revealed.  I had a moment of panic.  This is not good.  I took a deep breath, a moment's pause and reminded myself to refocus on the goal.  I do need to lose this weight and tone up this rear.  My short wait kept me on track instead of heading to freezer for ice cream.  (Good thing, I don't have any ice cream in my freezer.)

My commitment was strong today.  I ate without having empty sugar calories and I spent about 40 minutes on the treadmill.  Today, my treadmill experience was so much better than it had been in the recent past.  Yeah!  Praises!!  The first 5 minutes that I've dreaded, past with ease.  I've decided to become a serious runner again and today was a good day on the path.

It was a good day and I'm looking for another.
