Celebrate Now!

Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

What can top the news of the rescue of the all of the passengers from the United Airways plane that landed in the Hudson River?  Not even our President's farewell address can.  For me, the most memorable moment from the news coverage is the woman who sat in an ambulance while being filmed for the news.  She must have been asked how she was doing.  While I never heard a question, I simply heard her say, "I've never been better."

Imagine living through such an ordeal.  This is so much more than an inconvience and a change in plans. This was a tramatic life-threatening event.  Within moments, a routine trip became something dramatically different.  There were only minutes from soaring in the air to floating in the water.  No one reached their planned destination.  All the passengers were exposed to the elements.  People were injured, uncomfortable, and cold.  And to top it off, their luggage may never be returned.  And this passenger knows that she has never been better.  She survived.  Praise the Lord!!

I'm celebrating with her.  I've said my prayer of thanksgiving.  This woman and the 154 others still have their bodies, minds and spirits to live another day and rejoice in the life that they have.  Celebrate now for this moment.
