Better Dinner Plans

Proverbs 15:22 Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

It was a tough day at work for so many of us.  It was one of those bad economy days.  To get some relief, a few of my friends and I decided to hang out at a restaurant.  I did get my workout in before heading over and I managed to work out relatively hard for my 30 minute session.  Dinner out wasn't part of my plan, but I figured it would be good for me to go and chat with my friends while eating some food.

The problem is that I really didn't see any food selection that I really wanted that I thought was good and on my typical every day plan.  I ended up making my choice and later thinking about all the sugar and excess calories that I consumed.  What I really need is a better dinner plan for times like these.  I didn't have to eat at the restaurant.  I could have grabbed another piece of fruit or protein bar and been full enough to simply have water or diet soda.  Even if I decided to eat off the menu, I needed to think more about how this fit into my overall plan well before I told the waitress my order.

I'm going to work on some plans for myself.  This is going to require that I consider what I like at some of the typical places we visit and what kinds of foods I should be eating.  I'll be using some online resources and books and magazines.  I might not have a nutritionist to take with me, but I can get the advice I need before my next  restaurant adventure.  The more I know the better my plan will be.  You have to be prepared for the day when the salad with the dressing on the side is just not a good option.
