Face The Facts

1 Corinthians 9:27  No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

I went out to dinner last night with a friend.  Toward the end of the dinner, she announced that she was at a plateau.  She declared that she wasn't losing any weight, but at least she wasn't gaining.  I saw what she ate.  Clearly she was simply delusional.  Her meal was complimented with 2 drinks, each with an extra shot, and an ice cream sundae dessert.  The dinner seemed decent when looking at the menu, chicken and sweet potato fries.  The choice for sweet potato fries is usually a better option than regular fries, except for these.  They were covered in honey, a fact that was easily overlooked on the menu.  The good part was the chicken.  It was harmless and tasty.  All together, this was not a weight-loss dinner.

I wouldn't even mention the food.  It would just be one dinner, but something was going on here.  I'll give her credit, she's exercising.  The exercise is probably only covering the extra.  Exercising alone won't help you lose weight when your calorie consumption is just too high.  My point is not to focus simply on my friend.  Rather to take a moment for a little self-reflection.  We each need to face the truth of what we eat and how much we exercise.  To reach our goals, a little discipline is required along with the truth of the facts.  Discipline is really the problem people have with sticking with their eating and exercise plans.

In order not to be disqualified for the prize, we need take control of our bodies, what we put in it and how much we move it.
