A Greedy Habit
Proverbs 23:20-21 20 Don't associate with those who drink too much wine, or with those who gorge themselves on meat. 21 For the drunkard and the glutton will become poor, and grogginess will clothe [them] in rags.
Did you see the segment on Al Roker on the Today Show yesterday? Not a segment by Al, but the one that discusses his weight loss journey. There were two of these segments. One with Matt and Ann along with Al and the other where Natalie replaced Matt. I can't find the video of the second one which is what I really want to talk about. I'll put the link for the first in order for you to hear the story. It is a good one, but this link misses my point.
I have a friend who is equally as greedy on ice cream and justifies eating quarts of premium ice cream at a time because it was on sale. There is nothing really going on in her life that is particularly remarkable. She's saving money, or so she thinks, and eats every penny of it.
I've made some adjustments to hold back on the greed. I buy more single servings than quarters or the formerly half gallon containers. I don't mean I buy packages with multiple single servings. I buy one individual serving at a time. I have been know to eat many single servings at a time if I don't force myself to stop. The other strategy is to tell myself that I'm starting a new eating plan after a certain hour. Instead of beginning tomorrow, I begin today and cut out a few calories to get a jump on the plan.
I'll be working on developing some other habits to counter my greedy overindulgent habit. I'm taking suggestions. I need more than will power.

Al simply blew the question off. I'd like to believe he had no issue other than the ones faced by many of us that no one talks about. The simple issue is greed. Developing this eating only when you're hungry thing can be hard when you have a habit of eating whatever and whenever you want. For me, ice cream is my issue and I never eat ice cream when I'm hungry. I don't stop eating it because I'm full. Really it is simply a greedy little habit that I need to give attention. If I open a container of ice cream and I think it is really good, I'll go back for seconds. If I don't stop myself, I'll even go back again. I could be feeling perfectly wonderful about myself and my life. I'll eat it anyway. I may convince myself that this little bit -- even though it is a ton -- of ice cream won't cause me any harm. It is just plain good.I have a friend who is equally as greedy on ice cream and justifies eating quarts of premium ice cream at a time because it was on sale.
