Becoming A Couch Potato
Isaiah 32:18 My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.
Within the past few days, I started sleeping on my coach. Spending all night on the couch wasn't really part of the plan. I think pulling out my warm and cozy comforter did the trick. I don't know if I've ever mentioned it before, but I can fall asleep anywhere and wearing anything. I have slept all night in my coat with my shoes on my feet. Adding a layer of warmth only makes sleeping easier for me.
The plans I had before I left the drowsy state and entered REM sleep were completely ignored...all because of a blue comforter. Really, I can't blame it on the comforter. I know that my body and I love sleep. When my exercise routine gets a little more intense, initially, I like sleep even more.
While there is no ideal number of hours of that each person should get, we should work to get enough sleep. Too little sleep is a health hazard. It can increase the likelihood that you'll have a car accident, increase your body mass index (BMI), increase diabetes risk and other heart problems to name a few issues.
Too much sleep isn't good for you either. While there are no definitive studies linking too much sleep to health issues, some suggest that it may cause negative health effects.
The question remains, " How Much Sleep Do We Really Need?" For us adults, the average recommended hours of sleep is between 7-9 hours. In order to figure out exactly what works best for you, you need to monitor your sleep patterns along with how you feel with varying amounts of sleep. In my experience, even when you figure out how much you typically need, things may change. You may need to become a little bit of a couch potato on occasion...except, forget the junk food.
