A Divine Health Walk
Leviticus 26:12 I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.
There are days when you know you've started off right. New Year's Day was one of those days. There was no rush to get up. I had a plan of being at Eisenhower Park by 1 PM and figured I had plenty of time. I got up when I woke up, ate some food then worked on the computer in front of the TV. Before I knew it, it was time to leave. My sister and i picked up a friend on our way. When we arrived, we saw our Pastor and his wife waiting for us in the parking lot. We were pleasantly surprised to see that they had decided to join our group. Altogether, there were 9 faithful walkers who joined us in the park this year. This was a 300% higher than last year. Cathy, our fitness fanatic, gathered the people last year and was the reason we all got together this year.
The weather was perfect for a snowy winter day. Our walk started with the sun shinning, the temperature in the high 40s and our walking path was cleared even better than some of the streets we drove on to get there. It was a great opportunity for us to fellowship with one another in the beauty the Lord made.We walked briskly most of the way for about 5 miles. Our walking leader, Cathy, had us walk the trail twice. She thought she was a little slick as she sped past the end on her second time around. Everyone there either expected her keep us walking longer or decided to simply go along with the team. No one complained. It was a great experience and we are all better for it in mind, body and spirit. It was truly a Divine walk.
If you're on Long Island, NY, look out for us for future walks. If you're in another area, get a few like minded folks and walk. It will be a blessing for everyone.
