Ready, Set, Go

Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

The new year is here and we've made plans whether we called them resolutions or commitments.  We need to be diligent as we develop the discipline to continue onward toward our goals.  There is so much out there right now for us to focus on that we may loose track of what we are doing and why we are doing it.

For those of us who call Jesus, Lord, we know that we have heavenly aspirations.  We also have earthly ones as well.  High on that list has to be taking care of our temples.  Many of us have said we're getting on the new program on Monday.  Are we really ready?  Often reaching our healthy goal becomes abstract for us and we don't really make progress.  If you haven't determined your plan of action and figured out your goal, you won't know if you've made it closer or heading in the wrong direction.

Are you really ready?  Do you have a plan?  What is your goal?  Why is that your goal?  After you've asked yourself a few questions you can prepare to get ready.

You really need to set yourself up for success.  If you are like me, ice cream is a big issue.  The easiest way to avoid eating excess ice cream is not to buy it.  I don't need to combine my need for increasing self control with my need to reduce my sugar.  I need to attack these challenges separately.  Tomorrow, I am back to my Sugar Reduction Monday as a key part of my plan.  Building my general self control and discipline will happen as I have some more limited success with reducing my sugar.

Some folks will say that they don't want to deny themselves anything and it is impossible to do so for any length of time.  I disagree.  After all, we are Christians and understand sacrifice.  However, I am not committed to a life without ice cream.  I'm cutting it out for just a few weeks and only reintroducing it on a limited basis.  The key here is to modify my diet and exercise plan to one that works best for me.  This may mean that it needs to be changed over time to keep me on track.  I'm up for the challenge.

Even if your plan is not perfect.  Get it in gear.  Get off the starting line and go forward.  Pressing toward the goal actually requires some effort in that direction.  You promised yourself that you would get started.  Now, you must just get to moving.

Don't worry, you don't have to do it alone.  We're here for you and we'll all working on building a better GospelFit plan.
