Keeping the Body Gospel Fit

Genesis 43:28 They replied, “Your servant our father is still alive and well.” And they bowed down, prostrating themselves before him.

I had a doctor's appointment this past weekend.  I go pretty regularly. I have a cardiac issue that I refuse to call a disease and need to make sure I check everything out.  This is my fourth cardiologist.  He's good and a little kookie.  I typically take his recommendations, but sometimes I just have to laugh.  For instance, when I got off the scale and commented on my few pounds gained his remarks are "You are tall."  Seriously, I know I'm tall which is not an antidote to being overweight.  Of course, your height is a consideration in determining if you are over your ideal weight.  However, I already weigh more than I should and a couple of extra pounds on top of a couple of extra pounds is a path in the wrong direction.  I take it as my responsibility to make sure that I my body is gospel fit.

I need to keep my body Gospel Fit in order that I do the work in the world that God would have me to do.  Fighting illness is not the goal.  Rather, I am too glorify and praise the Lord.  I need to make sure that my body is not an easy home for disease and sickness to enter.  In addition to my faith and prayer, I need to act to keep my good health.  As we know, James 2:20 "But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?"  I am doing a good work in taking care of my body.  Yes and I'm going to be doing an even better job in the coming days.
