Lent - Day 3
Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? (Read Psalm 27)
Let us take a moment today and pray for all of those who impacted by the earthquake and tsunami. We know that God will never leave us nor forsake us. We pray for those of us in the path of the nature event and others who have family and friends in harms way.
There is no time better than this to remind us not to fear and to remember that the Lord is the stronghold of our lives. What would fear do for us? Yes, if you are trying to get out of harms way an adrenaline boost can help to launch us into action. To be in a constant state of fear and anxiety can be paralyzing and bad for your health.
Knowing that you have the power of the Lord behind you, your ability to move and progress should be enhanced. This is applies not only to natural disasters, but to other life situations as well. Do you know someone who is stuck in a job he or she hates because of the fear they have of finding another job? What about a person who is afraid to say something to someone because of the reaction that might be waiting? Do you know the person who can always tell you the bad side of any situation and uses that knowledge to stop any and everyone from trying anything new? Are you that person?
The truth is facing these fears and turning them over to the Lord is empowering. It may not be easy, but it is doable. The practice of giving up fear is a habit that needs to be developed as faith continues to build. During the Lenten season, we should working on building our faith. As our faith grows, our fears decline,.
