Lent - Day 7 - I Have The Power...From Him

Philippians 4:13 I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency]. (Read Philippians 4)

Sometimes, I think we need to do a better job believing and acting on the power that God has given us. I know I really can't speak for everyone.  However, there have been moments when it seems some of us are so stuck in being practical that we don't leave room for the power of God.  Of course, I'm in the group.  This isn't just about the big things.  Those small moments when the only thing that can be seen is what has happened before.

Seeing only our own history can be an issue when we work on health and fitness.  On our journey for Divine Health, we often get mentally stuck before we physically hit a plateau.  Getting to our goals means that we first need to make sure that our minds are ready to lead us.  We have to give up old ideas and then follow that the appropriate action.  Diet and exercise is not necessarily the easiest science.  We all know people who have no issues maintaining their ideal weight.  At least, it looks ideal to us.  Those of us who are more challenged seeing the ease is often more of an annoyance than a comfort.

Some days, pulling up the inner strength is harder than others.  However, we must press on.  We can reach the goal.  We have been empowered.   (Philippians 3:13-14  13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. )

Now, I'm going to have to use some extra power to keep myself in control when I head out to eat with my friends.  I can't do it alone, but I have the power given to my by Him.
