Asking For Wisdom

1 Kings 3:9 "So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?” (Read 1 Kings 3:1-15)

Have you asked for wisdom?  Do you have the tools of discernment?  Can you tell exactly what you should do?  Solomon asked the Lord for wisdom to guide him as ruler.  Shouldn't we all consult with the Lord for guidance and wisdom in all that we do?

There are tremendous benefits of asking and receiving.  The Lord told Solomon that he would receive what he ask for in abundance.  God would also provide wealth and position along with long life.  Imagine how God can transform our lives with beginning with the blessing of wisdom.
(1 Kings 3:12-14 12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. 13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. 14 And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.” )
Of course, after you have wisdom you must act upon it.  If you know what is right and do what is wrong, the benefit of your wisdom will be lost.  This sounds harsh, but in everyday practice we experience this.  We know we shouldn't eat any more of something and we do.  The result is that we don't lose or may even gain.  It is in the small choices that the large results are begun.
