Lent Day 34 - Obey & Be Blessed
Deuteronomy 28: 2-3 - 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God: 3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. (Read Deuteronomy 28:1-14)
This is Holy Week. It is time for us to focus closely on the blessing that God has given us. Praise the Lord for the abundance of blessings, even in the leanest of times. The ability to take in a deep breath on your power may not be appreciated enough until it suddenly becomes difficult. It is so easy for us to take things for granted. As I type this entry, the ability of me to think a thought and find the right keys to type is an act I typically don't think about much. I simply do it. It is a blessing. Not simply my typing skill -- which is sometimes quesitonable -- the ability of my mind to connect with my hands and to do exactly what I would like done. Brilliant! Not me, God!
The other part that we don't emphasis enough is that God wants us to be obedient. God is our supreme parent and actually knows what is best for us and rewards us for living God's plans. I don't know about you, but I know there have been times when following my plan has lead me away from what God's plan and I lost the blessing that would have come with being obedient. Not because God was angry and punishing me, but because I put myself in a more difficult situation.
I'm open to receiving my blessings, all of them, that God has in store for me. I'm praying for greater obedience every day.
